Studio 22 Comstock Center Wilton, CT 06897

Level 1 - Time: TBA

This class is designed to build the foundation upon which all ballet is dependant. The fundamental elements of balanced alignment, core strength and turn-out will be the focus of study. Elementary ballet vocabulary will be explored and reviewed as these exercises are the essential components of the classical ballet technique. Each exercise is designed to strengthen a specific area of the body and create the musculature necessary for the demands of classical ballet.

Level 2 - Monday (10:00 - 11:30 am)

For this level, dancers should understand the concepts of balanced alignment, turn-out of the hips and the elementary ballet vocabulary studied in Level 1/2. Level 2/3 dancers continue to strive for control, strength, and flexibility through carefully designed classes based on technical themes. Execution of basic ballet vocabulary will continue until steps are danced effortlessly and without confusion. In addition, dancers will study the dual nature of arm work - that of expressiveness and their critical role in facilitating movement.

Level 3 - Tuesday and Thursday (10:00 - 11:30 am)

Level 3 dancers must have achieved a level of technique which allows them to execute more complicated sequences of all elementary ballet vocabulary. This level will focus on intermediate steps, a graceful coordination of the arms and head and the ability to use music to enhance movements. It is at this level the dancer will be expected to transform technique into artistic expression. Dancers at this level must take a minimum of TWO classes per week

Level 4 - Wednesday (10:00 - 11:30 am)

Level 4 dancers must be committed to the challenges of advanced ballet vocabulary, combinations with batterie, multiple turns and increased speed and accuracy of movement. They must have solid technical skills, with the musculature and stamina necessary for the increased demands of this level. The dancers will strive to achieve greater musicality with the use of creative phrasing in all aspects of the class and must be able to work with a greater range of choreographed movements and syncopated beats. Dancers at this level are required to take a minimum of THREE classes per week and must have the approval of the director.

Intermediate Pointe - Wednesday (11:30 - 12:00 noon)

In this Level, increased demands will be placed on the inner musculature as all elementary and intermediate vocabulary is taken to releve and pointe*. Strict reinforcement of the fundamentals will foster greater strength and control in the ankles, hips and core. Dancers at this level are required to take a minimum of THREE classes per week

Basic Pointe - Monday (11:30 - 12:00 noon)

Dancers in Level 3/4 and above wishing to study pointe may do so providing they have achieved the musculature, alignment and strength necessary to support themselves correctly and confidently en pointe. The Basic level pointe class will be limited to SIX students to allow the close monitoring of alignment while the dancer learns elementary pointe steps. A slow and careful approach to pointe work ultimately yields the best results. A minimum of THREE classes per week are required to take this class.

Open Level Workshop - Time: TBA

Each week this class will focus on a specific area of ballet technique. Some of the class themes will include port de bras, pirouettes or petit allegro. There will also be classes on stretching for better extensions, breathing for greater stamina etc. This class is recommended for all dancers.

Private Lessons - By Appointment - Fridays

Private lessons are available for those students seeking a clearer understanding of any aspect of their ballet training or to accelerate their overall progress. An instructor best suited for their particular needs will guide them through carefully selected exercises designed to accomplish their goals as dancers.
